Meet NOVERO
Our work doesn’t only consist of designing and building. A large part of it encompasses collaborative communications and working shoulder-to-shoulder as part of a team. We need to be skilled listeners and thinkers while focussing on quality, integrity, and excellent service.
Joele Di Meglio
When Joele could hold a hammer, his father brought him onto the building sites. On Saturdays he would pack lumber, clean the 2x4s and stack it in a clean pile under the watchful eye of his dad. As a teenager, he would go straight onto a work site after school, apprenticing in carpentry and residential framing. Joele worked closely under his father for 12 years, before taking a break and working in landscaping. He returned to his roots soon after, founding his own construction company and following in his father’s footsteps.
Joele brings the strong DiMeglio work ethic to the operational side of the business. He strives to build trust with clients by being completely transparent, proactive and hands on. He focuses on offering the highest level of communication for every single client and building strong relationships.
Suzanne Di Meglio
With over 20 years in the business and marketing industry, Suzanne is a dynamic leader committed to enhancing efficiency and fostering growth. She has a passion for sales and marketing, streamlining workflows, and elevating the NOVERO team’s overall performance.
In addition to overseeing daily operations, Suzanne is dedicated to working with her team closely and driving a culture of continuous improvement. She loves how her team can inspire, create and envision a new space for each of our clients and values her team’s commitment to excellence.
Guiseppe (Joe) Di Meglio
Joe’s extensive experience in the hands-on aspects of construction incredibly spans almost 60 years and two countries. He began his apprenticeship at age 11 under a local builder in his town. Instead of continuing with school Joe entered the trade full time and by the age of 13, was supervising two labourers. At 17, he built his first large-scale custom home – his family’s home – from the ground up with concrete rocks and blocks.
Moving to Montreal to work in the construction boom around Expo 67, Joe added landscaping to his skillset. Relocating his young family in Vancouver, he worked for over a decade with Artuso Brothers as Lead Carpenter building large complex projects before striking out on his own.
Joe understands everything going on across the site at all times. His ferocious work ethic carries over to the rest of the team, instilling efficiency, integrity and mental toughness.
Matt McDougall
Matt specializes in carpentry and millwork, building residential structures from scratch. A graduate of the unique Heritage Carpentry and Joinery program in Ontario, Matt gained hands-on knowledge of preservation, renovation and restoration of historical architecture. This program focussed on producing high-quality work, a perfect fit for NOVERO’s strict standards.
In addition, Matt has worked in finishing carpentry, exterior sliding, deck building and framing. At Sashmasters, a heritage window and door restoration specialist, he gained valuable knowledge in the repair, construction and installation of wood windows, doors and mouldings. Matt’s talents extend to the kitchen, where he has a passion for cooking and whipping up an amazing meal.
Merle Parkin
Merle first arrived on one of our work sites as a subcontractor. His work caught Joe’s eye, and after much scrutiny, Merle passed the test. When Joe suggests that we hire someone who meets his strict standards, we listen.
Like many in the industry, Merle has learned and honed his skills on-site from other highly experienced tradespeople. Possessing a knack for finding people who excel at what they do, Merle will absorb everything that person can teach him, and then apply it. Home Inspection and BC Building Code courses have rounded out his skill set, enabling him to better understand what building authorities expect from the industry, and he includes this knowledge in his work at NOVERO.
Merle’s career highlights include stripping a 100-year-old house down to the studs, then breathing new life into it; acting as foreman on a 20-story tower; running large crews on big commercial sites; and working for himself for six years. Merle excels in his role as site supervisor, with thanks to his friendly and adaptable personality. Clients find him very approachable, customer-focussed and always available for questions.
Tim Miller
Tim is known for his expertise in finish carpentry and brings a wealth of experience to the NOVERO team. His career began in 2009 as a framer, building new homes from the ground up. He then spent seven years specializing in custom homes as a finish carpenter with a Fraser Valley contractor.
At NOVERO Tim enjoys working on renovations, and connecting with clients—helping them realize their dream project.
When he’s not at work, Tim spends his time golfing and enjoying outdoor activities with his family. He is also actively involved in coaching his kids’ soccer and baseball teams.
Jacob Brown
Known for his relatable nature, communication skills with clients, and his meticulous approach to work, Jacob brings dedication and experience to the NOVERO team. He began his career at 14 in his family’s construction business, and after earning his Carpentry Diploma from Nova Scotia Community College, he moved to Vancouver and joined our team in 2023.
Jacob takes great pride in NOVERO’s commitment to quality and doing the job right, which provides him with genuine satisfaction.
Outside of work, Jacob and his wife enjoy hiking, camping, and actively participating in their church community.
Jillian Fritz
Jillian is a great asset to the NOVERO team by bringing her previous experience as a residential interior designer with a design and build firm. She has the flexibility to work on the full spectrum of projects from smaller one-room remodels to high-end custom homes. Her easy-going personality allows her to connect and work with all types of clients. Jillian’s favorite part of design is working with her clients to turn their dream home into a reality.
Jillian has her Interior Design Certificate as well as her Diploma in Interior Design Technology from BCIT. In addition, she holds a Certificate in Industrial Drafting from Kwantlen Polytechnical University. She started her career as a Colour Consultant at Benjamin Moore, transitioning to a kitchen and bath designer, then becoming a full-home interior designer.
Outside of work, you can find her spending time outdoors with the family camping, going for walks and finding new local spots to explore. She is currently learning how to golf.
Lindsay Winterbottom
Lindsay’s creativity and eye for design is a genuine asset not only to the NOVERO team, but also to our clients who benefit from her expertise. She is particularly talented in building trust and understanding, then assisting clients in defining their style and creating cohesion throughout their home.
Her range of experience in design roles – from working as a designer in a prominent residential design-build firm to a high-end furniture retailer – allows Lindsay to provide dynamic solutions for each project and client. Prior to obtaining her Diploma in Interior Design, Lindsay worked in the service and hospitality industry—likely one of the reasons why she excels in customer service and connecting with people.
When not working Lindsay enjoys “West Coast lifestyle hobbies” such as hiking, skiing, and photography. She is currently focussed on supporting her two kids in pursuing and discovering their interests, and dreams of new world travel destinations.
Marika Komori
Organized, resourceful, and dependable, Marika works closely with the design team in both the conceptual and physical side of projects. She arrived at NOVERO with over 15 years in legal administration focusing on accounting, client relations, and office management. Her experience forms the backbone of her contribution here, and this organizational talent easily melds with her love of design, resulting in vital support for our team.
Finding creative outlets in design and art has always been a part of Marika’s life. This began with the influence of both parents who are professionally trained in their own mediums, and has led to a range of interests in fashion, jewelry design and fabrication, interior design, and DIY projects.
Marika’s happiest moments outside of work are when she’s spending time on the Sunshine Coast working on projects and fishing—even more so when it’s with family and friends.
Erica Bourgeois
Erica has been with us since 2016, when it was just her and Joele in the office. Previously she has worked as an office administrator in a range of industries, including shipping/receiving, graphic design, and home inspections for real estate sales and developers. This varied experience has helped her fine-tune her office and efficiency skills to our considerable benefit.
Erica’s own home renovation skills, design inclinations and knowledge is invaluable when it comes to helping prospective and new clients understand the process of undergoing a renovation. Easily the most efficient member of our group, she leads the charge on the organization front, and is always ready to assist with a positive attitude, with fantastic competency and professionalism. Erica has a love for home design, wine, all things Christmas and global travel.
Chad Dixson
Chad came to NOVERO with over 10 years of experience in accounting. He has worked various industries such as construction, retail, and corporate home improvement supply chain. With his years of expertise and broad industry experience, Chad is able to provide our team with compelling reports and financial analysis.
When not in the office, Chad can be found golfing or travelling.
IN MEMORIAM
Norm Chadwick (April 1957–August 2021)
We lost our friend and fellow worker to cancer in August 2021. It is a great loss for our team—we will dearly miss his gentle manner, approachability, and work ethic.
Norm was typically one of the first ones to be on the job, and the last to leave. Many a client has acknowledged and appreciated his friendly manner, noting a memorable or meaningful conversation with Norm.
Born Victoria, BC, Norm grew up and lived in Ontario before returning to BC. Drawn to construction and design, Norm held an early ambition to be an architect but life led to other adventures such as extensive travel and living in Japan. Skilled trade became his career in 2004.
Norm strived to continually produce high-quality work and was always committed to putting the customer first.
His passion for all things art, food, and culture led to many world travels, especially to one of his favourite places, Japan.
