A major kitchen remodel was in order for this family of five who often entertains. Taking down a wall opened the kitchen to the dining room and made room for a spacious island, perfect for both cooking and entertaining. To connect the rooms, we reframed the bulkhead for a drop ceiling. New kitchen cabinetry was installed with soft close hardware and painted in Benjamin Moore Classic Grey. A built-in pantry with microwave, sliding shelving, spice rack pull-outs, baking sheet divider and floating shelves are just a few of the custom elements . The island was painted to boldly contrast (Benjamin Moore Black) and holds garbage/recycling drawers. The white 4×16 subway tile backsplash keeps the space fresh, allowing the tile floors to take centre stage. These hexagon 8×7 porcelain tiles in a soft brown print are a playful touch which was incorporated into the living room’s fireplace surround as well.
