PROJECT DETAILS
This Coquitlam basement renovation transforms an underused space into a fully self-contained garden suite, designed to comfortably host extended family stays while offering the homeowner flexible storage and entertaining space. The suite encompasses a kitchen, living area, bedroom, office, bathroom, and laundry.
The transitional design draws inspiration from the mature, private garden visible through the suite's walk-out patio doors, establishing a warm, collected palette of rift-cut white oak, sage green, brass, and natural stone that flows cohesively through every room.
The kitchen is anchored by a stove wall featuring a tapered hood fan flanked by white oak floating shelves, and a sage green island with concrete statement pendants above. A ceiling-height oak cabinetry wall houses integrated refrigerator and freezer columns and ample pull-out pantry storage, its grain referencing the garden beyond. In the living room, a ceiling-height rift-cut white oak media unit echoes the kitchen’s millwork across the open-concept space.
The bathroom continues the suite's refined material story with a rift-cut white oak vanity, marble-like quartz surfaces, and a frameless glass shower enclosure.
