The full house interior renovation of this 2300-square-foot Burnaby home was a labor of love during Covid for our clients, who welcomed a new addition to the family during the process. The project ran quite smoothly as we transformed almost every living space with an eye toward creating a contemporary home for entertaining.
The removal of a dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room creates a brighter open-concept space and allows for an expansive multi-slide door to the deck. A striking Cosentino Calacatta Gold quartz waterfall island with contrasting black base makes an elegant surface for entertaining, seating five adjacent to the dining area. Full-height cabinetry and custom bench seating provide extra household storage. Another highlight of the all-white kitchen is the sleek panel-ready appliances, including a column fridge, freezer, and dual-zone wine fridge.
NOVERO also removed a wall enclosing the stairs beside the living room, creating a more open and inviting atmosphere. The fireplace becomes a modern focal point flanked by arched bookcases. Unique design elements such as the feature walls with decorative wall paneling, square wood handrails, and lighting fixtures elevate the home's aesthetic. While all three bathrooms have the same Caesarstone Fresh Concrete countertop, they differ greatly in the other finishes—hex mosaic floor tile in the ensuite and grey cabinetry, large marble-look wall tiles and black vanity in the main, and rift-cut oak millwork in the basement bathroom.
The basement is now an ideal spot for hosting gatherings, by adding comfortable rec room-style seating and giving the previous kitchen a new life as a stylish bar featuring a gorgeous live-edge countertop and hanging shelves. A show-stopping glass-enclosed modular wine rack serves as a focal point for the space while displaying the couple’s extensive wine collection. Finally, one of the basement bedrooms is converted to an elegant home office with built-in cabinetry and desk.
