A major kitchen remodel was in order for this family of five who often entertains.
Taking down a wall opens the kitchen to the dining room and makes room for a spacious island, perfect for both cooking and entertaining. To connect the rooms, the bulkhead is reframed for a drop ceiling. New kitchen cabinetry is installed with soft close hardware and painted in Benjamin Moore Classic Grey. A built-in pantry with microwave, sliding shelving, spice rack pull-outs, baking sheet divider and floating shelves are just a few of the custom elements. The island is painted to boldly contrast (Benjamin Moore Black) and holds garbage/recycling drawers. The white 4x16 subway tile backsplash keeps the space fresh, allowing the tile floors to take centre stage.
These hexagon 8x7 porcelain tiles in a soft brown print are a playful touch, and are also incorporated into the living room’s fireplace surround.
