The goal of this Pitt Meadows home remodel focussed on style upgrades while making the space more grandkid-friendly. The remodel included the kitchen, bathrooms, entry, hallway, and fireplace surround.

As the heart of the family home, the kitchen’s functionality and efficiency needed significant improvement. Moving a wall and adding a support beam resulted in a larger kitchen and generous pantry wall—with plenty of room for snacks and small appliances. Enlarging the island into an L-shape provides more prep space and countertop seating.

The timeless transitional look of the update follows a tight palette of neutrals including white, grey, and black. We chose family-friendly, durable and easy-to-clean surfaces throughout like quartz countertops and eggshell or ulti-matte paint finishes. In heavily-used areas such as the entry and laundry, unglazed porcelain tile gives extra grip and traction while resisting wear and tear.

We particularly love how the kitchen’s glossy grey subway tile - laid on a stack bond for a contemporary take on a classic tile - contrasts with the black lighting and gives the kitchen a modern punch. The large industrial pendants and matching smaller task light over the sink is a bold lighting statement, but also highly functional.
