This 1960’s split level Coquitlam home was in need of multiple exterior updates, from curb appeal in the front to a much larger deck in the back. We began by installing new exterior finishes including gutters, soffits, flashing, window shutters, and shingles on the peaks, before turning our attention to the highlight—the stoop. A beautiful door with ¾ glass and double side lites becomes the focal point of the house. A fibreglass door was chosen, providing extremely durability for high traffic use while allowing natural light into the home. A black brass pendant lantern, attractive brass door hardware, and modern black 7” house numbers add polish. Our designers recommended a crisp white & black colour scheme to complete the revitalization of the exterior, including painting all of the brick white.

At the back, we enlarged the deck and built a covered living space to be enjoyed year round with the addition of two natural gas heaters. The expansive space provides plenty of room for dining, lounging, and accessing the back yard. Aluminum railings frame waterproof and low maintenance Weatherdek flooring, and fir deck treads make a nice transition to the lawn. A mix of exterior lighting - accent, task, and ambient - enhances both aesthetics and safety. A garbage bin enclosure is framed in under the deck, and the remainder of the space provides plenty of storage in the off season.
