PROJECT DETAILS
The homeowners of this 1960s split-level Coquitlam home sought an open-concept living space to better suit their family of seven. Taking down walls led to uncovering challenges such as asbestos and questionable prior work, including buried wire in the walls and heat registers under the flooring. After bringing the home up to code and installing a lighter-coloured luxury vinyl flooring throughout, we achieved a brighter, multi functional space. The family now benefits from a welcoming, efficient kitchen-dining area and study nook. The reconfigured kitchen layout creates room for a large island and beverage bar. Every inch of custom cabinetry is well thought-out for storage. The installation of a 9 ft multi-slide patio door gains access to additional living space on a new covered deck and maximizes daylight flowing into the home.
In the living room, an updated fireplace with built-ins creates a beautiful focal point. A neutral color scheme forms the foundation of this transitional style home, utilizing a cohesive group of similar materials throughout. Wood brings warmth and character, white glossy tile adds texture, and soft gold accents in the hardware & lighting enhance elegance.
We removed two walls in the entry area - including glass bricks - replacing them with white oak and glass railings. This expands the sight lines into the home, opens up the entry space, and increases the quality of light—particularly with the installation of the new glass front door in the Phase Two exterior remodel.
