Working in our industry, there is a A LOT of travel involved. On any given day, we’re on the run anywhere from Maple Ridge to West Vancouver so needless to say, we get out. Today, we wanted to share with you some of our favourite (and most underrated) neighbourhoods in the Vancouver area. Heads up, you won’t find Yaletown or Kitsilano on this list. Not that we don’t love them, but we’re gonna steer you away from the obvious choices.

1. Lower Lonsdale

The North Shore is booming, and this area (located at the bottom of Lonsdale Avenue) is transforming the landscape. With the Seabus keeping you only a 15 minute boat ride away from the heart of Downtown Vancouver, this area is quickly being populated with people who want the best of both worlds.

Why it inspires us?

We love the contrast of old and new with the historic shipyards and the exciting new waterfront development, alleyways with hidden treasures and of course, the glorious waterfront views.

2. Burnaby Heights

Across the Burrard Inlet from the North Shore (via Second Narrows) is another fantastic Vancouver area neighbourhood we like to call ‘The Heights’. This quiet, prestigious residential neighbourhood in North Burnaby has everything you need from amazing food, shops, parks and views.

Why it inspires us?

We love all the culture and character this neighbourhood brings. There is a real sense of community, and those who have lived there for most of their lives will smile and say hello when passing by. We also love the mix of apartments as well as detached homes. Makes for the wonderful place to live!

3. Fort Langley

A little ways away from all the hustle & bustle of Downtown Vancouver is the quaint little community of Fort Langley. It’s also another Vancouver area neighbourhood that is booming with young families. This friendly village transports you to a movie-like world where nothing can go wrong.

Why it inspires us?

We absolutely love this place. If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll see that we post about it a lot. We come here to shop for antiques, stroll around the tree lined streets and have a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries. We suggest to visit in the summer when it’s in its prime!

4. Osprey Village/Pitt Meadows

This Vancouver area neighbourhood is probably the least known to people who don’t live in the area. Nestled in Pitt Meadows, Osprey Village is a nice little destination, great for pit stops on our daily travels. Being right on the Fraser River, you get the best of both worlds with cute cafes and scenic paths.

Why it inspires us?

We love hidden gems, and that’s what Osprey Village is. Their beautifully designed community centre anchors the main strip and there’s even the cutest little flower shop on the corner. A vast park separates the village from the river which makes it a nice getaway from the busy city. There’s something serene about this place which is why it made our list.

5. Port Moody’s Waterfront

With things like the Port Moody Ale Trail, this neighbourhood is making it’s mark to locals and visitors alike. With a prime waterfront location at the East end of Burrard Inlet, people are starting to realize just how amazing it truly is.

Why it inspires us?

We love how this area has come together in the past few years. With amazing breweries like Twin Sails & The Parkside, it’s really becoming a destination. There’s a juxtaposition of old and new and a spectacular waterfront park with loads of activities. If you haven’t been in a while, we highly suggest you pay a visit!
