In this Coquitlam project, NOVERO Homes was tasked with elevating a builder-grade kitchen and family room. The result is an elegant yet functional Scandinavian-inspired space. The open concept features a light-hued kitchen with a hit of colour, overlooking an inviting sitting room. Light grey paint on the cabinets lend a sophisticated air to the kitchen. This classic neutral is not quite as stark as white, but  blends beautifully with the veined quartz countertops and slab backsplash—the light hues maximizing the available natural light.

True to the Scandinavian aesthetic, this townhouse kitchen relies on elements such as soft wooden tones, neutral palettes, layers of lighting, and a touch of color. Clean lines, a clutter-free space, and smart organizational solutions help in achieving the prized minimalist look.

Mixing in contemporary design materials such as the rift-cut oak features, sleek continuous quartz surfaces, matte black hardware, and oversized pendant lighting, adds the right amount of interest to the space.

Rich wood textures throughout add warmth and keep the look unified. All the wood features, from the open shelves and hood fan trim in the kitchen, to the engineered wood flooring and custom-built media cabinet, are oak stained in cohesive tones. The millwork in the family room anchors the space, framing a 60” wide linear electric fireplace and neatly storing equipment and games behind reeded wood touch-latch doors.
