With their children now in their teens, the owners of this Port Moody house were more than ready for a sophisticated update to really make their home a dream space. Working closely with the client’s vision, we renovated and brightened the main floor and basement living spaces largely by reworking the finishes. From custom millwork and stone surfaces to layered textural materials, no surface went untouched. The addition of high-end finishes in a modern traditional style has breathed warmth and elegance into the home’s interior.

A full kitchen renovation was needed for both functional and entertaining purposes. Since the kitchen and living room are an open-plan space visible from the front door, a centerpiece was introduced: a 6-seat black dining island topped by Silestone Calacatta Gold with a mitred ogee waterfall detail. The island accommodates a second dishwasher and oven, as well as storage. Special features include a Palmer Brass Wood Shelf, curved plaster hood, and a full-height wall backsplash that carries into the adjacent laundry/pantry. The beaded shaker cabinets and quartz countertops continue into the laundry room and office, while the satin brass knobs are a common thread found throughout the home. The flooring chosen for the main floor and main bedroom is white oak engineered hardwood, with the exception of a glazed porcelain tile for the laundry.

One of the home’s highlights is the Calacatta Tuscany marble fireplace surround and customized built-ins which formalize and anchor the living room. Luxurious details, black accents, and a continuum of brass finishes, now allow our clients to enjoy a more grown-up setting. Similarly, the powder room is given a sophisticated look with a blue herringbone tile backsplash finished with a shimmery gold grout. Linen wallpaper and Calacatta Cremo marble floating vanity amplify the sense of luxury. The focal point of the dining room update is the introduction of a sleek, modern element—the built-in black hutch. The Calacatta Cremo marble top and reeded cabinet front lends texture and elegance. Above, metal-framed glass cabinets not only provide a stylish display for glassware but also offer a view of the vertical stacked tile backsplash.

Last but not least, a new entertainment area in the basement is outfitted with built-in cabinetry, a linear fireplace, and a wet bar. The wet bar is dressed up with a raised profile hammered metal sink, vertical stacked glossy tile backsplash, and a vintage-inspired bar faucet.
